A Bit About Me and My Venture Capital Firm

I am co-founder and general partner of Moment Ventures, an early stage VC firm investing in Future of Industries startups. The Future of Industries to us includes software & tech used in and across other industries to transform how those industries operate: logistics, food, healthcare, travel, oil & gas, education, transportation, etc. Our team is distributed, with team members in the SF Bay Area, New York City and Atlanta.

Why are we called Moment Ventures?

We invest in the earliest stages in startups. In physics, a Moment is the amount of force needed to enable an object to rotate on its axis (such as a swinging door). In their startup journey, founders need steady, experienced support from their partners to help them power through the tough spots. We aspire to be those partners and problem solvers for founders!

Before VC

Before becoming an investor, I spent a number of years as a sales & marketing exec at startups, where I learned to appreciate the art of customer relationships and market positioning. My most memorable startup experience was as the first sales hire at C-Cube Microsystems, the company that largely invented and popularized the MPEG video algorithm, so on your next Zoom video or streaming movie, you're welcome!

Outside of Work

Some of my non-profit activities include serving on the Board of Directors of the California Alumni Association serving the 500,000 alums of U.C. Berkeley, the Parent Executive Board for U.C. Irvine, the Advisory Board for the Diamante Scholars Program for Diablo Valley College, and numerous efforts supporting Menlo School.

I'm a Cal alum, so a die hard fan who seems to derive all his enjoyment about the Bears during the offseason. Find me on LinkedIn here. Go Bears!
