Spot on, Marissa! I remember when visiting Tony Hsieh (RIP) a few years ago that he said that he designed Zappos' offices in a deliberate way (only certain ways to enter/exit a building, etc) such that people would serendipitously run into each other in the hallways or lobbies.
A company we backed called twine has a mission to do that for hybrid/remote teams via a SW product that is seamlessly integrated with Zoom etc such that workers/groups can serendipitously interact via team breakouts with context - check out www.twine.nyc to try it - free for small groups!
Thanks for writing this!
